2023 Wedding Trends

2022 is still among us, but to hop onto a trend you need to be “in the know.” Here, we are taking a look at some trends that are going to make a new appearance, or maybe even a comeback in 2023.

Wedding Dress Rental

Brides are now more than ever looking for sustainable ways to organize their weddings. And the wedding dress is no exception! With the help of sites like Rent the Runway and Nuuly, people are becoming obsessed with how easy it is to rent beautiful trendy clothes, without having to spend a ton of money, or make extra room in your closet! And why should your wedding dress be any different?! If you're only going to wear it once anyway, why not rent it?

The 80s Dress is Back!

Now, this is something I thought I would never say, but 80s fashion is back! But before you freak out, it is coming with a more polished twist. Instead of poofy all over, a la Princess Diana. Brides are going for dramatic details, with simple silhouettes. Think big poofy sleeves on a plain tailored dress. Or a lot of flowers and texture, but on a mini dress. It’s 80s fun with a little more sophistication.

Mismatched Bridal Party

Gone are the days when all brides are wearing the exact same dress, in that god-awful pale yellow. Now brides want their bridesmaids to wear an array of colors and styles, as long as it matches the theme. This makes for more interesting pictures, and lets each bridesmaid show a bit of her personality on your big day.

The After-Party Mini Dress

After the dinner has been served, and the first dance is done, brides want to let loose! Traditional dresses are beautiful, but they can make you feel a little weighed down, overheated, and stiff while dancing. This is where the new mini-dress trend comes into play! Brides will soon be all about the after-party mini dress. It's a way to still look bridal, be comfortable and be fashionable all at once!

Alternative Entertainment

Some couples are finding the traditional DJ or band to be a thing of the past or just not “their thing.” So they are choosing to have alternative forms of entertainment for their wedding. Whether that's outdoor wedding games (such as cornhole,) large musical ensembles or even Drag Queen Entertainers, couples are finding unique ways to express themselves throughout their wedding.

Intimate Celebrations

What started out as a shortened guest list because of covid, has turned into really valuing one's genuine relationships. Gone are the days of inviting everyone you have ever known to your wedding. Couples are now being more choosy with their guest list, opting to only have those attending that are truly in their lives in a meaningful way.

Wedding Weekend

Let's make a weekend out of it! Who wants to party for one night, when you can party for two! In 2023 we will see less “save the dates” and more “save the weekends.” Your wedding day goes by fast, so to help you spend more time with your guests, and more time celebrating your love, couples are choosing to have multiple events stretched over a few days. This can range from brunch together, a mini golf tournament, to a booze cruise celebration! It's a way for the couple to soak up as much of that wedding day joy as possible!

Hope this list of wedding trends for 2023 has inspired you when it comes to your own wedding planning. Remember just because it's trendy, doesn’t always mean it's the best thing for you as a couple. Do what excites you and your wedding day (or weekend) will be fantastic!
